Things happen, phones get dropped, glass screen gets broken. Apple doesn’t replace it for free if it’s damaged due to an accident or abuse. However, replacing a broken iPhone glass is the most common repair and is definitely cheaper than purchasing a new iPhone. The user can purchase an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) kit that includes all the necessary tools and a correct adhesive to replace the glass panel easily. Before choosing the right kit, there are several things to look at on your iPhone.

The newer iPhone models have two screens: the outer glass screen and the inner LCD screen where the images are projected. To determine if one or both screens are damaged, it is necessary to turn the power on the phone on. If the screen is working properly that means that the LCD, the inner screen, is still functioning and it’s the external screen that’s damaged. It is a much cheaper repair than replacing the LCD.

The screen can be replaced by a professional at any phone repair store. Apple stores can do it and charge $199 for it. Or the user can pay $55 and do it themselves if they are technically savvy. Step-by-step instructions as well as the tools are included in the kit. For additional information the user can refer to the Internet where he or she will be able to find plenty of information on how to replace the glass. The LCD can be replaced also but since it’s a more complicated procedure, it might be better to rely on the help of professionals, unless, of course, the user is a pro.

It is unlikely that the LCD will be damaged when the iPhone is dropped. It takes much more pressure to be applied for it to be damaged. A simple screen replacement, just as any other part of the iPhone, can be easily purchased and replaced in a very cost-effective manner. Please be aware, that if you can’t repair the iPhone yourself and it is broken, it voids the warranty and it will not cover the replacement. If you are not sure that you can replace the screen yourself, contact a professional to do it for you.
