Prior to selling websites on Flippa, for a lot of people our web auction
knowledge would have been through eBay. Now there is a lot of discussion and confusion
regarding the reality that Flippa, although not dissimilar on the face of it, is quite a bit
different to buying and selling websites on eBay..
The most obvious difference between eBay and Filippa is that in using eBay, buyers and
retailers have a good take for the worth of what items they trade.
Numerous buyers buying websites and on occasion sellers come to Filippa challenging “What on earth is this
site actually worth?”
When using eBay, being a buyer you can see the amount that the goods are worth and you log on and
start the auction process with the plan to win the auction for a cost you
know could be cheaper than retail, or if you find a collector’s edition, a price
you know is decent.
*The total flipping websites marketplace is so modern that buyers and especially
newer buyers possess less than adequate understanding as to what a website is worth and
how to go and figure out a value or price.*
Let’s say for example, you start selling latex blow up dolls with eBay. Both
buyer and seller already hold a general knowledge of the doll’s price value. The
seller sets a start amount, often a reserve without a ceiling or “buy it
now” selection and simply let buyers battle it out during the bidding war.
On the other side of it, if a seller on Flippa is listing
latexrubberdolls dot com, most buyers have no notion of how to find out the value the webpage is
and approach the seller for answers, who also more often than not has little or no notion of what
his website is worth.
